These comprehensive courses provide in-depth training on various aspects of makeup artistry and the makeup industry. In addition to learning the fundamentals and essentials of makeup application necessary to becoming a makeup artist, Brushworks Makeup Academy puts an emphasis on the relevant, and promotes being a well-rounded, versatile artist.
Whilst both Pro Courses include a theory, demonstration, and practical component, Makeup Fundamentals is based heavily on acquiring the rudimentary techniques, while Advanced Essentials is largely based on furthering those techniques.
Advanced Essentials has a heavy practical component and is an extension of how the skills attained in Makeup Fundamentals can be developed and utilised creatively and in a more elevated way.
The following outlines the content of each Pro Course module.
This opening lesson is an impactful introduction to the professional world of makeup artistry. In it, we cover extensively all aspects of professionalism in the industry.
We explore tools, equipment, and product in detail as well as correctly setting up for success.
We go in-depth into understanding colour and its relationship to makeup and makeup design. Understanding skin and skin prep, the art of flawless foundation application, and the impressive effects of contouring and its impact on different face shapes.
During the Correcting and Perfecting stage, we analyse various facial features and identify ideal application techniques for a designated outcome.
We start eye application with a core eye technique fundamental for its versatility and 'correcting' abilities.
We explore all elements of false lashes including correct lash selection, customisation and application. We work on the impact of product selection and placement in influencing a makeup mood.
This module allows us to expand our technical library with the introduction of two further eye techniques. These core techniques pave the way for a multitude of eye looks, both classic and contemporary.
We work on different eyeliner and lip effects, as well as eye and lip combinations to communicate an effective and cohesive makeup story. We work on transition looks and successfully creating and executing various makeup moods.
In this lesson, we identify and breakdown exactly what makes a look specifically bridal. We go through bridal variations as well as an in-depth look into the business of bridal. Also included in this session is face-flattering fundamentals for beautifully making over your more mature clients.
We take a look at fashion, editorial, and retail makeup requests, dissecting the nuances of interpreting a brief, replicating a look, and discussing the intricacies of working in a collaborative team.
Diverse & Creative Makeup covers the requirements of working on the male face in varied scenarios, the specifics of working on deeper skin tones and Asian features, as well as how and what to expect when working on young faces.
Amongst this, we discuss makeup and photography with a focus on black and white photography - and introduce our last two eye techniques.

Runway Ready takes us through the various facets of catwalk makeup with a particular focus on elevated looks that push traditional boundaries. This lesson is the ideal opportunity for experimentation with new ideas, makeup methods, and makeup products.
We talk through the creative process and dissect the many elements required for successfully creating and executing an on point runway look.
In this lesson, we explore the idea of creating characters and the nuances of bringing a character to life through makeup.
We go over feature modifying techniques such as blocking brows, altering skin tone, and advanced lash effects.
Learn how these skills may be utilised as building blocks throughout various areas of the industry.
Master the art of replicating a look. This lesson is highly effective in understanding how to interpret reference images and recreate a look.
We break down a look step by step, dissecting every element to identify how the look is constructed and executed.
This lesson is a masterclass in identifying colour, shape, texture, technique, placement, application, and adaptation.
This lesson focuses on Period makeup and details the identifying features of makeup through the decades.
We discover the intricacies of giving a look authenticity to convincingly transport you to a different era.
We contrast this with modernising a period look by taking inspiration from the past and making it current.
Advanced Bridal focuses on next-level bridal beauty - a style particularly requested by the more 'makeup-centric' bride.
This glamorous, highly structured and defined makeup look is especially in line with the current social media aesthetic for bolder makeup brides.
